American who spent 2 years in Egypt jail


Mohamed Soltan (Egyptian-American) has been released having spent two years in jail. He was arrested in 2013 by the Egyptian government over allegations of running operations with the banned Muslim Brotherhood. Mohamed Soltan was placed in solitary unit for a long time and went on hunger strike for about 500 days to declare the said allegations are unjust.
He has returned to the US with huge welcome from  family and friends. Mohamed  Soltan is recovering after his health deteriorated due to the hunger strike.
He gave up his Egyptian citizenship as part of his condition of release.
