The forward move to Manchester City has made him become the most expensive English player ever and he is under contract until 2017, but turned down a new £100,000-a-week deal at Liverpool.
Manchester City appear to have finally got their man after
Brendan Rodgers’ side reluctantly accepted a bid believed to be around £49m for
the England international. The transfer is subject to contract negotiations and
a medical.
He was left out of Liverpool’s squad which flew out on
Sunday for their pre-season tour of Thailand as talks over the big-money switch
progressed.
